The West Kowloon Cultural District Authority is a statutory body established by the Hong Kong SAR Government in 2008, responsible for developing the West Kowloon Cultural District.
Freespace Fest is a free two-day outdoor arts festival where artists present outdoor works and audiences bring in their own activities. It is a festival for visitors to experiment the possibilities of public space and the concept of Freespace as a venue at the West Kowloon Cultural District.
The Challenge /
To ensure showing intact contents with smooth navigation experience on various devices, ranging from desktop computers, tablets and mobile phones, we need to make this website responsive. It adds to the challenge when WKCDA requires a design that can be scrolled from left to right, which created a lot of challenges compared to developing a traditional responsive websites.
Our Solution /
Our team adopts CSS3 with careful planning to create smooth navigation experience to audiences. We offer different layout options for various screen resolutions. The system will detect not only the width but also the height of the browsers. We have two sets of layouts for screen height below or above 800px, and we have 3 sets of layouts for screen width below 320px, 640px, and above 640px. With all these settings, we can ensure people can comfortably view the website contents with different devices and browsers.
